Welcome to our new local Dermatology Service, PriDerm. This is a medical diagnostic and management service for the provision of community-based dermatology. The service operates from sites in Birstall and Birkenshaw, in order to provide a more local service for neighbouring practices

Referrals:

The service will see anyone, with no age restrictions. We will consider all referrals, with the exception of the exclusions listed below.

How to refer:
1. Via E-Referrals
i. Search for the "PriDerm Community Dermatology Service - Kirklees" using
one of the following methods:

ii Select "PriDerm Community Dermatology Service - Kirklees/Calderdale" and click Request to generate the Unique Booking Reference Number (UBRN).
iii. Please print Appointment Request Summary with password and give to patient.

Please note that this service is NOT directly bookable. The patient is required to make their appointment by telephoning the service directly using the details found on the Appointment Request Summary, quoting their UBRN and Password.

v. Attach an electronic referral letter to the UBRN, via your clinical system, containing full patient details along with a comprehensive history, to include medications used to date and any current medication.

Conditions Included and Excluded

Below is a list of conditions included in the service:

  • Eczema
  • Psoriasis
  • Acne
  • Urticaria/angioedema
  • Rosacea infections/infestations
  • Gravitational disease
  • Alopecia
  • Drug rashes
  • Lichen planus
  • Actinic keratoses
  • Bowen's disease
  • Rashes of uncertain diagnosis
  • Lumps and bumps of uncertain daignosis

The following should be managed by GPs in practice unless diagnostic uncertainty exists.

Benign Skin lesions

  • Viral Warts
  • Skin Tags
  • Molluscum Contagiosum
  • Seborrhoeic Warts/Keratoses
  • Pyogenic Granuloma
  • Spider naevi
  • Benign Naevi/Moles
  • Eipdermoid/Sebaceous Cysts
  • Dermatofibroma/Histiocytoma
  • Lipoma
  • Senile comedones
  • Mild/Moderate drug rashes

Conditions excluded from the service

  • Warts
  • Verrucas
  • Leg ulcers Cosmetic treatments

Exclusions requiring referral to secondary care:

  • All skin cancers, including melanomas, squamous cell carcinomas and basal cell carcinomas
  • Patients requiring light treatment
  • Leg Ulcers
  • Patch Testing
  • Severe/acute skin rashes requiring urgent secondary care management
